How to qualify for the 2027 World Fitness Championship
To reach the World Fitness Championship you earn a spot at one of the 10 events of the 2027 World Fitness Series. Many start with an online qualifier from your gym and finish with an in-person final. Spots per event and division are set by each event: the rulebook marks in bold the divisions that award spots.
The general idea
There is no single path. WFP describes it as “multiple pathways”: each Series event has its own qualifiers, registration and rulebook, and awards its own spots across divisions. You pick the event and division that suit you.
What is common: the divisions shown in bold in each event’s rulebook are the ones awarding Championship spots, and you must finish in one of the spot-awarding positions.
Path 1: online qualifier and in-person final
This is the most common setup. You do one or more workouts from your gym, submit the score and a video, and the best receive an invitation to the event’s in-person final. 2027 examples:
| Event | Online qualifier | In-person final |
|---|---|---|
| Athens Throwdown (individuals only) | Registration 14 Nov 2026-10 Jan 2027; two workouts announced 11 Jan, scores due 26 Jan | 16-18 April 2027, Athens · the best 640 individuals are invited |
| UBL | The Italian Championship | 15 February-15 March 2027 | 25-27 June 2027, Naples |
| The Monster Games | Registration from 1 Dec 2026; scores 28 Jan-10 Feb 2027 | 23-25 July 2027, Overland Park (Kansas) |

Path 2: going straight to the final
At some events certain divisions have no qualifier. At Athens Throwdown, for example, teams don’t go through an online qualifier: they register directly for the final until each category is full. The Atlantic Coast Classic opens registration on 1 March 2027; its qualifier format is to be confirmed.
How you earn the spot at the final
Being at the final isn’t enough: you must finish in one of the positions that award a Championship spot in your division. How many spots each division has is set by the event’s rulebook. For now WFP confirms spots per event and per division in total (for example, 26 per gender in Pro across the Series, 52 in total), and Elite individual has 3 spots at Athens, Naples and Oslo.
Step by step
Look at the list of 10 events and pick one by date, city and level.
Read that event’s rulebook and find your division (spot-awarding divisions are in bold).
Check the event’s age rule if you compete in Masters or youth divisions.
Register within the event’s window. Have a gym with a camera and a video that meets the event’s rules ready.
Do the online qualifier, if there is one, and submit the score and video before the deadline.
If you receive an invitation, accept your place in time and plan your trip.
At the final, finish in one of your division’s spot-awarding positions.
How it worked in 2026 (reference)
In 2026 the season was more linear: three online qualifiers open to anyone without a Pro Card and to teams, two Tour Stops with 50 Pro athletes per gender and a Finals for the top 30 on points per gender. Teams and age groups could also qualify through partner competitions (Athens, Monster Games, Oslo) or a Finals qualifier. An online-only competition, the Rec League, didn’t qualify you for any in-person event. In 2027 all of this runs through the Series events.
