2027 CrossFit Games Masters

If you are 35 or over, the CrossFit Games have a Masters division for you. In 2027 there are eight age groups, from 35-39 to 70+, and all follow the same path: Open, Quarterfinals, in-person or online Semifinal and Masters CrossFit Games. The final is organised by Magic City Games in Birmingham (Alabama); dates and spots per group are to be confirmed.

How a Master qualifies, step by step

  1. Register for the Open. It opens on 7 January 2027 at 20:00 UTC. The system places you in your group by birth date. The 2027 fee is to be confirmed.

  2. Do the three Open workouts (27.1, 27.2 and 27.3). One is released each Wednesday and you have until Monday at 5 p.m. PT to do it and submit the score. You can do it at an affiliate or at home. You compete against your age group worldwide.

  3. If you finish in the top 25% worldwide in your group, you get an invitation to the Quarterfinals (15-22 March). You compete for a week at an affiliate. If you also qualify for Individual, you play both with a single registration and one schedule.

  4. If you finish in the top 400 in your group (300 in 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70+), you move on to the Semifinals.

  5. At the Semifinals you have two routes: in-person events from April to June, run by CrossFit partners, or the Online Semifinal on 24 to 28 June, a last chance. The list of in-person events is to be confirmed.

  6. If you qualify at your Semifinal, you go to the Masters CrossFit Games run by Magic City Games.

Masters Semifinals: in-person or online

  • In-person. Masters only, from April to June, at partner organisers’ events that CrossFit recognises as Semifinals. Which ones, and how many spots each gives, is to be confirmed.
  • Online. 24 to 28 June. CrossFit presents them as a last chance to qualify.
  • If you qualify in two. In 2026 you kept the invitation from the first and your place in the others passed to the next athlete. For 2027 it is not published.

Masters CrossFit Games 2027

Run by Magic City Games. Held in Birmingham, Alabama (USA); dates, venue and number of spots per group are to be confirmed. Don’t confuse it with Magic City’s own championship, which is a different event.

To get a sense of scale, in 2026 the field was 30 per gender in 35-39 and 40-44, 20 in 45-49 and 50-54, 15 in 55-59, 60-64 and 65-69, and 10 in 70+. These are 2026 figures, not 2027. In 2026 between 5 and 15 of those spots were at stake in in-person Semifinals and the rest online; and an in-person event needed at least three athletes per spot (otherwise the spot went back online).

Age: how it is calculated

Your group is assigned automatically by birth date. The 2027 cutoff date is not published. In 2026 age was counted on 14 July 2026: the 40-44 group was those born between 15 July 1981 and 14 July 1986. A reference only, not valid for 2027 until the rulebook is out.

What else you need to know

  • Individual at the same time. Confirmed for 2027: if you qualify for both Individual and your Masters group you can compete in both, at least in the Quarterfinals, with a single registration fee. Which ages qualify for Individual is to be confirmed.
  • National Championships. A Master can’t be National Champion: only Individual men and women count.
  • Prize money. 2027 prizes are to be confirmed.
  • Fees. To be confirmed. In 2026 the Open cost $20 in most countries, the Quarterfinals $50, the Online Semifinal $100 and the Masters Games $500.
