2027 CrossFit Games teams

Teams have their own path and, in 2027, a shorter one: there are no Quarterfinals or Online Semifinal. A team is formed during the Open, the first stage of the Games, and then competes in one or more in-person Team Qualifiers between 22 March and 13 June 2027. The best in the global ranking go to the Games. How many teams go, and where and when, is to be confirmed.

What a team is

Each affiliate in good standing can register as many teams as it wants. A team has at least two men and two women, and all must be registered individually in the Open. Athletes are added from the team manager’s dashboard or join by themselves.

How a team qualifies, step by step

  1. Create the team during the Open, before the first workout closes. The team manager does it on the Games website and at least two men and two women are added. The 2027 fee is to be confirmed.

  2. Each athlete does the three Open workouts (27.1, 27.2 and 27.3) individually and with a valid score. After the Open the roster can’t be changed, not even inside the same gym.

  3. Teams pick one or more in-person Team Qualifiers, between 22 March and 13 June 2027. You can go to as many as you like, with no geographic limit, although some may ask for a prior online qualifier (each event decides).

  4. The workouts are the same at every event and there is a global ranking on the Games website. If a team competes several times, only the most recent score counts.

  5. At the end of the period, the best teams in the global ranking go to the Games. One gym can bring more than one team if they qualify high enough.

What changes compared with 2026

  • There is no online qualifier for teams any more.
  • One gym can bring several teams to the Games. In 2026 it could bring only one.
  • The roster is locked after the Open.
  • Team Qualifiers are in-person events run by partners.
  • To host one you need at least five teams, a Head Judge with the Advanced Judges Course and Level 1 or above, and judges with the season’s course.

The Games for teams

The best teams in the global ranking go, but CrossFit hasn’t published how many yet. Venue, dates, the registration fee and how the roster is declared at the final are also to be confirmed. As a 2026 reference, the competition roster was four athletes and registration cost $700 per team; they are not 2027 figures.

Other useful things

  • Medical check. In 2027 it is required for Individual and Teams. CrossFit says the standards will be published in December.
  • Team score in the Open. In 2026 it was the sum of the two best men’s and two best women’s scores in Rx’d. For 2027 it is to be confirmed.
  • National Championships. They are Individual only.
