CrossFit Team Qualifiers 2027

The Team Qualifiers are the big change for teams in 2027: after the Open, teams compete at in-person events run by CrossFit partners between 22 March and 13 June, and the best on one global leaderboard go to the Games. There is no online qualifier for teams.

What they are, plainly

Until now, teams qualified through Semifinals like individuals. That changes in 2027: teams go from the Open straight to a series of in-person events, the Team Qualifiers. Every team registered through an affiliate for the Open can enter.

The workouts are the same at every event, and the results feed one global team leaderboard. When all events are done, the best teams on that leaderboard go to the Games.

How a team is built

An affiliate can register as many teams as it wants for the Open. Each team has at least two men and two women registered for the Open, and every athlete does the Open workouts individually. In 2026 the team manager created the team, paid the fee (US$20 in most countries) and picked the athletes from their dashboard; the 2027 system is to be confirmed.

Once the Open ends the team is locked: rosters can’t change, not even between athletes at the same gym. Everyone needs a valid score in all three Open workouts.

How the events work

  • In-person events between 22 March and 13 June 2027. The event list and venues are to be confirmed.
  • A team can enter as many Team Qualifiers as it wants, but only the most recent score counts; earlier scores don’t show on the global leaderboard.
  • Some events may run their own online pre-qualifier, at their discretion.
  • There is no geographic restriction: a team can enter any event, wherever it is.
  • One affiliate can send more than one team to the Games if its teams rank high enough.
  • How many teams reach the Games is to be confirmed.

What organisers need

To become a Team Qualifier, an event needs a licensed-event history or a good reputation, a minimum field of five teams, judges with the required training (a Head Judge with the Advanced Judges Course and CF-L1 or higher) and a yearly application. Sanctioned athletes can’t compete.
